Esit-Eket, Onna and Ibeno local government areas embarked on a protest to warn Exxon Mobil to relocate its headquarters to Akwa Ibom state.
The youths surrounded the gate of the company at its housing estate in Eket and Airstrip in Akwa Ibom with fetish materials and coffins.
They came out for this warning protest under a heavy downpour.
Speaking on behalf of Afigh Iwaad Ekid, Mr Joe Etukudo, organisers of the protest said:
time has come for Mobil to relocate to Akwa Ibom State in keeping with the presidential directives.
Today is just a warning protest done in a very civilized manner, we will eventually shut down Mobil’s operation both onshore and offshore if after fourteen days the company does not take us seriously, Etukudo said
He stated that the company is being selective in their award contracts and employments against members of Akwa Ibom indigenes in general and also against the members of the core oil community.
