Oatmeal contains 4 grams of fibre per cup and research suggests the increase in the intake of dispersible fibre (the type found in oatmeal) by 5 to 10 grams every day which could bring about a 5 percent reduction in “bad” LDL cholesterol. Also, according to a journal of Nutrition’s study, eating a breakfast processed with “slow-release” carbohydrates, like oatmeal, hours before exercising can help in burning more fat. This is why: A study shows, eating “slow-release” carbohydrates did not spike sugar in the blood as high as eating processed carbohydrates, like white toast. In turn, the insulin levels did not spike as high, and because insulin plays a role in notifying your body to store fat, having lower levels may help you in burning fat.
